Inverness Castle and Ness Bridge Scotland

Ness Bridge (rebuilt in the 1960′s) is still referred to locally as the "New B ridge" even although a newer one, the Friarrs Bridge, has been constructed half a mile downstream.

The "New Bridge" replaced a beautiful – but sadly too narrow – catelled structure which resembled the Castle in style.

The "Lego" building in front houses Government offices and a restaurant, and shops at road level and greatly detracts from the view of the Castle.

Highland Cow
Highlands Scotland

The Highland cow is quite a fixture up in the Highlands of Scotland. The Highalnds’ rolling hills and infertile soils which only support grass naturally lends itself to livestock, mainly sheep and cattle.

And you see a lot of these livestock up in the head of the UK.

The Highland cow is mainly reared for beef and it develops this long coat of brown hair to survive the cold winters in the hills.

And they look cute with that hair. I am still trying to figure out how they can see with all that hair. And their calves – even cuter. Too bad they are only reared for their meat.

This particular lackadaisical individual was languidly strolling behind the wire fence giving reasonably enough time for shots, These guys are huge – make no mistake about that.
